The story of the life and exploits of his great-grandfather Kambolat Khatagov was told in the song "Ma fyd" ("My father") by Ossetian artist Azamat Sidakov
“I have a special connection with this song, it was written about my great-grandfather Kambolat Khatagov,” Azamat shares, “the song is called “Ma fyd” - “My father.” Kambolat during the Great Patriotic War valiantly defended our Motherland, he was seriously injured in the war, after which he did not live long.
My grandmother, Kambolat's daughter, Nina Khatagova, Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR, asked Gigo Tsagaraev, an outstanding Ossetian songwriter, people's poet of the SO ASSR, to write a poem that would reflect her father's whole life.
