Day of Peace in the Chechen Republic
April 16 is the Day of Peace in the Chechen Republic. In 2009, the CTO regime, which had been operating on the territory of the Chechen Republic since 1999, was canceled. On the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov canceled the order according to which the territory of the republic was the zone of the CTO. By the decree of the Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, April 16, 2009 was declared a holiday in the Chechen Republic - the Day of Peace.
