Description

Chechen woman's day
Chechen Woman's Day is an annual holiday celebrated in the Chechen Republic on the third Sunday in September. In 2009 it was celebrated for the first time.
Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov announced the establishment of the holiday in February 2009. According to him, Chechen Woman's Day should become one of the main Chechen holidays. As he later stated, "This is a tribute to Chechen women who at all times endured hardships and hardships on their shoulders associated with the tragic events of the history of the people in the past centuries, as well as during the two military campaigns." On the eve of the holiday on September 18, 2009, a monument to the fallen defenders of Dadi-Yurt was erected in the Gudermes district.
The holiday was founded in memory of 46 Chechen girls who died during the Caucasian War. In September 1819, the troops of General Ermolov burned down the Chechen village of Dadi-Yurt; Captured 46 girls led by Dadin Aibika rushed into the river while crossing the Terek, not wanting "to be touched by the hands of those who are guilty of killing fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and are guilty of burning their native village." In 2013, in memory of the feat of these girls, a monument to Hangish-Yurt was erected.
